Car Parking Tariff Consultation

What's this consultation about?

A public consultation on car parking in 2019 showed that residents wanted more short-term parking to be provided but new proposals were put on hold when the Covid-19 pandemic struck in March 2020.

The proposals are to amend the pay and display charges in Bedford, Brook Street, Riverside, Mill Road, Chagford, Hatherleigh and the Guildhall car park.  It is recommended the cost of long stay parking is increased to encourage turnover of vehicles.  It is anticipated this will, in turn, improve the vibrancy of towns and provide visitors and shoppers better access to parking.

Although the all day tariff will be increasing in all of the Borough Council car parks, we believe that these proposals will provide extra short stay parking for people who wish to shop in the towns, and will remain good value for money compared to car parking charges in other towns across Devon.  The last fee increase was in July 2018.

How can I have my say?

A 21 day public consultation will be carried out.

The Consultation will run from Thursday 21 January to Thursday 11 February 2021
