Themes Explained

Council - Delivering efficient and effective services

By this we mean the Council will strive to provide residents with value for money, easy to use, ‘right first time’ services.  We also aim to be in the top 25% of nationally performing Councils.

Homes - Enabling Homes that meet the needs of all

This theme covers the work the Council undertakes in providing a wide range of housing including granting of planning applications and working with partners and developers on affordable housing provision.

Communities - Council and residents working together to create strong and empowered communities

Council services covered by this theme include community grants; neighbourhood planning; community led car parking tariffs; public spaces and green infrastructure funding and a register of assets of community value.

Enterprise - Creating places for enterprise to thrive and businesses to grow

This theme covers the work the Council undertakes in providing business units, business advice support, grant funding and business rate relief.

Environment - Protecting, conserving and enhancing our built and natural environment

The Council has a key responsibility as a planning authority to manage building development in the area.  The Council is also responsible for the collection of all household refuse and recycling.

Wellbeing - Supporting positive, safe and healthy lifestyles and helping those most in need

Council services covered by this theme include housing benefits, homelessness prevention, disabled facility grants, community safety and leisure centre services.
